Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can contaminate a variety of foods, particularly those that have not been cooked or have been minimally processed. Some common foods that may contain listeria include:

SOFT CHEESES

Especially those made from unpasteurized milk, such as BRIE, FETA, CAMEMBERT, BLUE CHEESE

deli meats and hot dogs

These can become contaminated during processing if proper sanitation measures are not followed. Such as SALAMI, HAM, AND ROAST BEEF

RAW SPROUTS

Alfalfa, Bean, Clover and Radish Sprouts can be a source of listeria.

Unpasteurized dairy products

Milk, cheese and other dairy products made from unpasteurized milk may carry listeria.

Packaged and cut fruits and vegetables

Bagged salads, pre-cut melons and cantaloupes may be contaminated.

Listeria can survive in cold temperatures, so it's important to store food properly and cook it to safe temperatures to reduce the risk of contamination.

Pregnant women, newborns, elderly individuals, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly susceptible to listeria infection, so they should take extra precautions with these foods.
